A cab driver's story

I  used to commute to and from Hyderabad. One day I took a cab driven by a very young person. When I asked him his name and what he had studied, he ended up narrating his story... Here is what he said.. I am Ravi , age 22. I never stepped into school. Since I was 5, I started earning money from my livelihood. My father has never bought us anything for me and my sister till date not even a shirt or biscuit. I have always seen my father coming home in a drunk state, using filthy langugage at us and beating my mother. I started my first job at the age of 5 collecting coffee and tea glasses from mechanic shops. I was given 100 rupees per month. In 2005, at about 10 years of age, I was moved to Vijayawada to stay with a family doing business. In few more years, as I was helping the family with random works, I also learnt driving cars. The demise of Smt. Chennupati Vidya, Former Member of Parliament and Founder of Vasavya Mahila Mandali, has shocked everyone. On August 18, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu paid his tribute to the leader and expressed his condolences to her friends and family.

Love you so much and you are with ME Chennupati Vidya, a WOMAN with conviction, passion and determination, worked more than 60 years for the dignity and respect of women. Hailing from a freedom fighters' family, she had seen India’s freedom struggle. She had shared her 14 years of journey during freedom struggle with all her co-workers and children. She also had the impact of Gandhi's principles of non-violence, truth, dignity of work and respect to humanity on her.  Although she entered into public life at the age of 21, she never compromised her values either in political or social life. That made me a proud daughter who has imbibed all those values since childhood. I have been carrying forward those values throughout my life and making many more to follow her.
